Humanitarian Aid for Education: Why It Matters and Why More is Needed

EAC partner, the Global Education First Initiative has produced a set of infographics based on key messages from the latest policy paper by the Global Monitoring Report (GMR) on education and conflict.

With a growing proportion of the world’s out of school children and adolescents living in conflict-affected countries, education should be a priority for humanitarian and development donors. However, as this paper describes, humanitarian aid systems neglect the education of children and adolescents in countries affected by or emerging from conflict, and more and better targeted aid is needed.

Global Education First Initiative

The Global Education First Initiative (GEFI) seeks to unleash human potential by nurturing the unique gifts that every child brings to the world. GEFI and EAC are partnering to bring the knowledge and expertise of both organizations together to work toward ensuring that all children receive a quality basic education.

EAC partnered with UNESCO to help realise Sustainable Development Goal 4 (ensure inclusive and quality education for all), as well as the former Millennium Development Goal 2 (achieve universal primary education). To that end, the two have joined in partnership to implement education interventions in 11 countries to reach OOSC in Asia and the Middle East.
