My task may not be easy, but it is possible. My work in education has convinced me that there are ways to overcome barriers to access education. That is why the Educate A Child initiative was launched in November 2012.
Educate A Child is turning commitments into concrete actions by collaborating with global and local experts to trigger significant breakthroughs in reaching these children. It is building innovative relationships with a wide range of partners who all have a stake in realizing the aspiration of Education for All. We have already reached half a million children in 27 projects across 17 countries. Our support has helped with the construction of classrooms and teachers’ accommodation. It has boosted pupil enrollment, trained new teachers and provided textbooks and desks.
This is just the beginning. We will accelerate our actions—scaling up approaches that work and replicating them where we can. We will strive to reach millions more towards 2015 and beyond.
The vision of Educate A Child is to provide every single child the opportunity to access quality primary education or its equivalent.
The chance of an education is a chance to escape poverty, to improve health and to enhance opportunities.
Education can transform lives and change societies.
